Velodyne

Velodyne is a Higher Order-based Finite Element Analysis tool with multi-body contact that we are continuing to develop in-house and optimize for massive parallel computational efficiency.

To meet the wide range of analysis needs our motorsport and defense customers ask us to solve, we have included advanced constitutive models describing the physical response of engineering materials to the variety of loading conditions encountered. Velodyne provides us with the flexibility needed to approach new problems with the most current theoretical treatments of the physics involved at a high level of fidelity. With the ability to run in parallel on our ample computational resources, this tool allows for component- to system-level analyses to be conducted quickly to solve difficult problems within a relevant timeframe. Areas of advanced development include:

  - Element-to-particle conversion

  - Auto-contact generation through complex multi-layered structures and adaptive to material       fracture and failure

  - Implicitly solved contact for hypervelocity explicit calculation

  - Parallel performance optimization

  - Multi-phase equations of state for accurate material representation

  - Damage models and reaction kinetics models to treat various types of reaction in energetic       materials exposed to wide ranges of threats (Insensitive Munitions focus)

  - Thermal solver to couple thermal/mechanical material response
